What if you could do only one thing, everyday that guaranteed to make your day?
What if it is scientifically proven that this one thing would make you a happier person and increase your business success?
Care to test it out?
At the end of each day , every day., turn off the tv and all outside distractions and spend a few minutes journaling. But this isn’t just your normal journaling ramblings…write down 5 things you are grateful for that happened in that day.
It is a scientifically fact that this small activity does three things for you:
First, while writing things for which you are grateful, your whole physiology literally changes. You feel yourself getting happier as you write and relive the feeling.
Examples for me today? My children returned for the weekend from college with friends and we had an entire day together. Just hearing college kids’ banter, talking about their dreams, plans after college, and being included in that excitement always makes my day.
Another? An impromptu conversation with one of my business partners after her coaching session in which I got to know her better verified my conviction that her heart is just as beautiful as her appearance. I know that our work together will enrich both of our lives immensely and am grateful that God gave me this business. I get to make an impact in the lives of others with people I love to have in my life both professionally and personally. What more could I ask for?
What else does a gratitude journal do for you?
It raises your expectation for even things in your future for which to be grateful. Just reflecting on great things day after day increases your belief that that trend will continue. Why wouldn’t it? If what “you think about you bring about” isn’t it best to think about your blessings which fill your life with abundance?
Finally, when you are inspired to look for things daily for which to be grateful so that you can journal in the evening, you find more and more wonderful blessings in your day. It changes how you experience day-to-day life. No day is mundane when you pay attention to your blessings.
Since it is scientifically proven that the greatest contributing factor to happiness is the degree of gratitude you recognize, isn’t it worth it to “up” your gratitude quotient? Try it for 30 days. See if you don’t sleep better, wake up happier, feel better about yourself, and find abundant blessings in your life –both personally and professionally.
