Lauren Rainey Tenney moved to Nashville eight years ago to pursue a career in entertainment, and successfully worked her way into the Nashville music scene. A talented singer/songwriter, she recorded an album while also acting as an on-air host for a popular country music channel. Shortly after she hosted a summer tour with a country music group, she discovered she was pregnant with her first child, and she and her husband decided one of them should be home with their newborn. Lauren chose to put her career on hold for a while, and left the bright lights of the stage behind her so that she could fully experience motherhood. At the same time, she also felt that it was important to contribute to her family’s income, especially when she pictured future costs of school tuition, family trips, and all the possible activities her son might want to pursue. She made the decision to join Rodan + Fields® as a way to contribute to her family income while still being able to stay home full-time.
“From the very beginning, I told myself everyday when I woke up in the morning to just keep working. I knew that if I remained consistent with this, it would be well worth it, and I was right.” Her consistency and diligence have paid off since that time, and two years after joining as an Independent Consultant she is now making a six figure income from her Rodan + Fields business. She says the key to her success has been self-motivation and working on personal development, because this business is all about bettering yourself so that you can in turn share your strengths with others. She advises her current and potential colleagues to read books on leadership and self-motivation. “If you are constantly looking for ways to be a better leader, or just a better person in general, you will be prepared for what you’re working toward, and be better equipped to teach and encourage everyone on your team.”
Her success with her business doesn’t mean she has left behind her career in music, and she plans to return to the stage when her son is a little older. For now, being a mom who can pick her child up from Mother’s Day Out and be home for all the important first moments in his life is the most important thing. When she does pick up a microphone again, it won’t be to set aside her Rodan + Fields business. Lauren assures that she is in it for the long haul.
“When I first joined, my main motive was to provide more financial security for my family. But over the last two years that I’ve been an Independent Consultant, my reason for doing this has changed.” Now she is more interested in helping her team members get to where they want to be in life. She has had the joy and satisfaction of seeing people who didn’t think they were capable of a direct sales career be able to assert themselves as business leaders. Others have been able to leave their full-time jobs to pursue their passions, and spend more time with their families. “Through a team effort, we have all benefited from this in so many ways. I have been given the time freedom to be with my son, and the financial freedom to help my own family and to give more to others. And I’m doing it with people who want the same thing.”
What Lauren wants now is to continue to expand her business as she uses her earnings to give to several causes, one of which is very dear to her heart. She is a big supporter of a non-profit clinic that provides counseling and resources to pregnant women who need support. The clinic she supports helps women who want to carry their babies to term, and provides the encouragement and assistance they need to deliver healthy babies. “There are so many women who find themselves with unplanned pregnancies and they have nowhere to turn. Thanks to my Rodan + Fields earnings, I am going to be able to continue to give to the clinic for a long time.” Lauren also has future plans to one day open a safe house for pregnant women where they can seek out counseling, financial resources, and a safe place to call home. “I feel extremely blessed to have a business that lets me sleep peacefully at night knowing my family will be taken care of, and I think everyone deserves to have that feeling.”
It is amazing what Lauren has accomplished in such a short time and I can help coach you to do the same! Message me and let's chat.
